The GPSS is made up of representatives from each of the graduate and professional schools. Each professional school elects one Senator per class, and each department in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences elects one Senator.

There are officially 11 Graduate and Professional schools but the GPSS recognizes EPH and PA as separate from the Medical School in terms of representation. The Senate generally consists of about 50 Senators who are elected at the beginning of each school year in elections held within each school.

Elections for Executive Committee Officers are held each February in the Senate, and the new Executive Committee is responsible for directing the organization through the summer and into the next school year. The officer positions are President, Vice-President, Communications Officer, and Treasurer.

Senators

Meetings and Minutes
The Senate meets bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings, at 7pm. Meetings are open to the G&P community and we both invite and encourage you to attend. Concerns reaching across school lines are our specialty, and we count on the entire student body to identify these issues. Additionally, the GPSS helps to sponsor graduate-professional student organizations in need of funding and/or office space; please check the "Proposals" section below.

It is the Senate's intention not only to represent the G&P community, but also to report to it. As part of this effort to keep the community apprised of what is going on, we will make every effort to publish GPSS news and events regularly on our website. If you have something you'd like placed on our events link, please contact the Communications Officer:

Proposals
FUNDING: The GPSS is a source of funding for inter-school organizations. The amount of direct monetary support is dependent on the current GPSS budget - additionally we are in a position to solicit funds from other university sources. Contact Sam Thomas if you would like to submit a funding proposal to the GPSS. Alternately, you may contact your school's Senator.

OFFICE SPACE: If your group (or idea-for-a-group) is in need of office space, we may be able to help. The GPSCY building has numerous offices that are outfitted for phones and internet access. We have FAX machines and a copier on site. Several computers are available as well. The central location makes the GPSCY ideal for such groups and leads to cross-pollination of ideas as well as social interaction. Space is allocated to groups consistent with the GPSS Mission Statement (usually rent-free) and upon availability and approval by the Senate. Contact Sam Thomas for more information.
